A Century Of Song

We had a tremendously successful weekend with A Century of Song on October 1st and 2nd. The concert was enthusiastically received by our audiences who were treated to great numbers from, Gilbert and Sullivan to Les Miserables and Ivor Novello to Rodgers and Hammerstein. Great credit must go to our MD Alan Hughes for his selection of the programme. Our two guest soloists are both long established friends of GAOS; tenor Alan Parkinson was in fine voice and baritone Richard Aldham was at his mellifluous best. We also had a guest instrumentalist – flute player Zara Jealous who received a wonderful reception from the audience. Zara is the daughter of David and Glynis Jealous - David is a Life Member of GAOS! Our thanks to everyone involved in A Century of Song – members of GAOS, friends from neighbouring societies and particularly our technical crew for a fantastic set. A Century of Song was certainly a winner – well done everyone!

The Concert was undoubtedly a great success.

I would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to all the Chorus Members for their tremendous contribution. The rehearsal schedule led to a large amount of hard work, but you all rose to the challenge and provided a first class performance. Many thanks for all the support you gave to me. My thanks must also go to Andy Sherlock for all the skills and guidance he provided as our Accompanist both during rehearsals and ‘On the night’. Thanks also to our ever present ‘support crew’ for the superb set construction and lighting services.
