Our cast in 2001 included Peter Whitley as Alfred P Doolittle - a very different part to our 2000 show when Peter was such a
hit as the King in King and I. Peter Whitley was well cast as Doolittle his two main numbers, With a Little Bit of Luck and Get
Me to the Church on Time, were two of the highlights of the show. Two new faces to GAOS portrayed Higgins and Eliza; Haydn
Cavanagh (a very experienced actor with Bingley Little Theatre) and Karen Milner.
Although Karen had appeared with GAOS in the chorus Eliza was her first major role with the society. Colonel Pickering
(Chris Ingram) and Mrs Higgins (Val Pennett) were both well known to Guiseley audiences, as indeed was Mrs Pearce
(Yvonne Palmer) who is more usually associated with the Follow Spot Theatre Company.
" Karen Milner as Eliza shone throughout the show and gave an excellent performance both dramatically and musically."
Playing the part of Freddy Eynsford-Hill was Matthew Donley - a very talented young actor and singer from Rawdon AOS.
" ...his superb singing voice was used to its best in the number On the Street Where You Live"
" The stage was full of moving bodies, extremely well choreographed by Rachel McGuire, which thrilled the audience"
Our director for My Fair Lady was Andrew Lunn, our choreographer was Rachel McGuire and our Musical Director was Dean McDermott,
the same team as for King and I in 2000.
