In October of 2002, Guiseley AOS presented Honk! This was the first time in many years that Guiseley elected to give
two full productions in a year.

" …in a different league … isn't about ducks but about being different, about bullying, about discovering
who you really are and feeling good about it."

The production, which was one of the first amateur productions of Honk! in the area, was directed by one of our
own society members, Johnnie Ingram and choreographed by Joanne Marshall. Dean McDermott returned as musical director,
completing the team that produced the extremely successful Fiddler On The Roof in early 2002.
Honk! is George Stiles' and Anthony Drewe's musical version of Hans Christian Andersen's Ugly Duckling story.
It won the Olivier award for Best New Musical in 2000, beating The Lion King, which was favourite for the prize.
It is a family musical, but not (and this must be emphasised) a children's musical. The music is catchy and quirky,
and the lyrics are witty and decidedly tongue-in-cheek. The cast have almost as much fun as the audience,
and there are several opportunities for brilliant cameos within the story.
