GAOS is one of the longest-established amateur theatrical groups in West Yorkshire.
We have always performed musicals and operetta with one main production each year - usually in February-March.
We adopt a professional approach to our productions, working with experienced
and professional production teams and usually cast by open audition.
We design and
build our own sets and this enables us to get the maximum working space from a restricted stage area.
We hire costumes for most shows and usually work with a pit orchestra of 10 or 12 players.
We have a loyal and long serving core membership but new members, young or old, either playing or back stage, are always needed and made welcome.
GAOS has been a very keen supporter of The National Operatic and Dramatic Association, having hosted many
events at the theatre as well sending large parties of members to the North-East Area's Annual Weekend.
Over the years the Society's programmes have often featured among the winners in both the North-East Area
Competition and the National Competition.
